1. Introduction

Welcome to ChessOpeners. By accessing and using this website ("Platform"), you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provision of this agreement. ChessOpeners is operated by an individual creator. These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the platform and its premium features.

2. Account Registration

To use certain features of the Platform, you must register for an account. You agree to provide accurate and complete information and keep this information updated. You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and password.

3. Premium Subscriptions

ChessOpeners offers premium features ("Premium") available through a paid subscription.

  • Payments are processed securely via our payment provider, LemonSqueezy.
  • Subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring schedule (monthly or annually).
  • You may cancel your subscription at any time through your billing portal. Your premium access will remain active until the end of your current billing cycle.
  • Refunds are not guaranteed but may be granted on a case-by-case basis within 14 days of the initial purchase.

4. Intellectual Property

The platform, its original content (excluding standard chess rules, opening names, and public domain games), features, and functionality are owned by the creator of ChessOpeners and are protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property or proprietary rights laws.

Puzzles sourced from the Lichess Open Database are used under the terms of the Creative Commons CC0 license.

5. User Conduct

You agree not to use the Platform in any way that:

  • Violates any applicable national or international law or regulation.
  • Exploits, harms, or attempts to exploit or harm minors in any way.
  • Impersonates or attempts to impersonate the Platform, an employee, another user, or any other person.
  • Uses bots, scrapers, or other automated means to access the Platform.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Platform is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. We make no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, as to the operation of their services, or the information, content or materials included therein. We do not guarantee that your chess rating (Elo) will increase as a result of using this platform, though we certainly hope it does!

7. Limitation of Liability

In no event shall the creator of ChessOpeners be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from your access to or use of or inability to access or use the Platform.

8. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of any significant changes. By continuing to access or use our Platform after those revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised terms.
